CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

CLASSES ARE LOCATED AT WASHINGTON DANCE CLUB
1014 Stewart Street, 2nd floor

Please have a firm foundation in the basics of the class you are taking. Previous experience in any style of Lindy Hop or west coast swing is sufficient for Lindy classes. No partner required for any class!

Brush Up Fundamentals
Every instructor has unique techniques and concepts with Lindy Hop fundamentals. This is one of the most important classes of the weekend. It is important to learn the core before moving onto the other fun stuff. This is a great opportunity to see what makes Peter & Caitlin such incredible and seasoned dancers.

Stretching It Out
Learn how to make the most of out of phrasing in the music by using floor-craft to stretch out your dancing. This is a great concept that doesn’t get touched on enough…this class will give you some great ideas for bringing your Lindy Hop to the next level.

Partnered Charleston
Charleston is the root of Lindy Hop so it is one of the most important dances to work on, not to mention it is so much fun! Learn some new variations and styling for your partnered Charleston.

Routine Class
Let’s step it up by learning a bad ass routine while covering some other useful concepts such as flow, transitions, energy, and more. Get ready to work and have an awesome time!

Dancin’ Slow
Dancing slow without being a grinding machine is a very difficult thing to do. Learn how to be a skilled slow dancer with connection, variety, repertoire, styling and confidence.

Solo Jazz Routine
Peter is known for his kick butt solo jazz routines. Working on your solo dancing is one of the most effective ways to get ideas for styling in your Lindy Hop. This routine is going to push your dancing so get ready to work!

Dancin’ Like Fellas, Dancin’ Like Ladies
Let’s go back in history to capture the original essence of Lindy Hop. There was a great balance and interaction between the lead and follow that has been lost over time. Let’s recapture this dance partnership and explore the roots and feel of the dance.

The Other Side of the Partnership
We get so focused on leading and following that we forget that this is a partnership that should be dynamic. Learn how to master partner dancing and explore the elements that will make you more than just a lead or a follow.
